A Great Victory For The Small Trucking Companies

OOIDA's Director of Government Affairs has announced that FMSCA has withdrawn its proposed rulemaking regarding minimum levels of financial responsibility for motor carriers.  The FMCSA is no longer considering the increase of a minimum level of liability coverage to $750,000.00.  This is a great victory for small trucking companies, owner-operators, and OOIDA members.

What is a Referral Partner and How Can They Help You Grow Your Business

Techopedia explains Referral Partner

Referral partners are an Internet marketing resource that can send targeted traffic toward the advertiser’s domain. Referral partners are selected by advertisers based on their website's subject. The partners write reviews and feedback about the product or place an ad for the advertiser. Whenever an ad is clicked and the prospective buyer performs a specific activity on the advertiser’s website, the referring website is paid a commission depending on the type of action performed by the referred user.

These actions are usually sales, so the referral partner is paid only when the referred user buys a product or service and/or registers itself with the website to become a prospective lead. Referral partners are normally website and blog publishers producing content in a similar category as the products or services the advertiser is selling. For example, a technology blogger might rate a list of smartphone apps and provide links to pages where those apps can be purchased. When a website visitor buys an app, the blogger gets paid.  -  https://www.techopedia.com

Single Point Carrier Services is currently seeking new referral partners in the trucking and transportation industry.  Do you do business in the following areas?  ELD, Permits, 2017 Mandate Laws, Safety and Compliance, Factoring, Freight Forwarding, Distribution, Fleet Financing.  If so, call us today and ask about our Single Point Referral Partnership Program.

Tips for Safe Truck Driving in Winter Weather

Winter is upon us and many regions of the United States have already experienced snow fall, sleet, and other wintry weather.  A trucker knows it’s best to always be prepared for these challenging driving conditions by using good judgment and skilled experience to safely navigate their way over the road. For novice drivers, who have not encountered these driving conditions yet, there are a few simple tips to keep in mind during the winter season:
    • Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.  This should be approximately 1/4 of a mile.
    • Slow down!  Drop below the speed limit when the roads are covered in ice.  You will lessen your risk of a major accident and other drivers that are sharing the road will appreciate the gesture.
    • Get an early start!  Check your fluids and make sure that your fuel is topped off.
    • Have your breaks checked to be sure that they are functioning and do not need to be replaced.
    • Do a circle check to ensure that mirrors are adjusted, windows are clear, and the trailer lights are clean and free of snow and debris.
    • Stay informed on the latest safety and compliance guidelines.
    • Get plenty of rest so that you are home for the holidays without any incidents!

    Trucking Through The Holidays

As the holidays approach, we are busy making plans, decorating our homes and buying gifts for our families and friends. Many of us have time off throughout the holiday season, but most truck drivers will be on the road making sure that we have all of the things on our Christmas lists.

Truck drivers often return from a delivery with an empty trailer.  "I love dead heading", said no truck driver ever!  Let's make finding loads easy for our drivers and owner-operators.  Drivers are often confronted with many obstacles that they must address in order for them to bring home enough bacon, or let's say turkey to feed the entire family.  It can be extremely beneficial for them to find a 3PL to address their needs, so that they can spend less time worrying about fuel prices, tire replacecments, full loads, safety and compliance issues, and insurance coverage.  Most importantly, GETTING PAID QUICKLY.

Please remember to be respectful and courteous to truck drivers while you travel across the country alongside of them during the holidays.  They are trying to get to their families safely while delivering the goods needed for everyday life. Think of a truck driver as the Santa Clause of the highway and teach your children to respect them as well!

Why You Need the Advice of a Safety and Compliance Expert

In the trucking and transportation industry, the regulatory environment continues to become more complex on a daily basis.  Be sure that your company is up-to-date with all regulatory specifications and this will result in fewer inspections, greater driver retention and reduced insurance costs due to an improved safety rating.

With an experienced and knowledgeable Safety and Compliance Agent, you can focus on the effectiveness and profitability of your core business.  Be certain that your Safety and Compliance Consultant has advised on the following:

    • Full DOT Compliance Set Up
    • Monthly Log Auditing with Mileage Accounting for Fuel Taxes
    • Quarterly Fuel Tax Reporting
    • Monitoring of CSA Inspection Data
    • 2017 Mandate Rules and Regulations
