Tips for Safe Truck Driving in Winter Weather

Winter is upon us and many regions of the United States have already experienced snow fall, sleet, and other wintry weather.  A trucker knows it’s best to always be prepared for these challenging driving conditions by using good judgment and skilled experience to safely navigate their way over the road. For novice drivers, who have not encountered these driving conditions yet, there are a few simple tips to keep in mind during the winter season:
  • Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.  This should be approximately 1/4 of a mile.
  • Slow down!  Drop below the speed limit when the roads are covered in ice.  You will lessen your risk of a major accident and other drivers that are sharing the road will appreciate the gesture.
  • Get an early start!  Check your fluids and make sure that your fuel is topped off.
  • Have your breaks checked to be sure that they are functioning and do not need to be replaced.
  • Do a circle check to ensure that mirrors are adjusted, windows are clear, and the trailer lights are clean and free of snow and debris.
  • Stay informed on the latest safety and compliance guidelines.
  • Get plenty of rest so that you are home for the holidays without any incidents!

Trucking Through The Holidays

As the holidays approach, we are busy making plans, decorating our homes and buying gifts for our families and friends. Many of us have time off throughout the holiday season, but most truck drivers will be on the road making sure that we have all of the things on our Christmas lists.

Truck drivers often return from a delivery with an empty trailer.  "I love dead heading", said no truck driver ever!  Let's make finding loads easy for our drivers and owner-operators.  Drivers are often confronted with many obstacles that they must address in order for them to bring home enough bacon, or let's say turkey to feed the entire family.  It can be extremely beneficial for them to find a 3PL to address their needs, so that they can spend less time worrying about fuel prices, tire replacecments, full loads, safety and compliance issues, and insurance coverage.  Most importantly, GETTING PAID QUICKLY.

Please remember to be respectful and courteous to truck drivers while you travel across the country alongside of them during the holidays.  They are trying to get to their families safely while delivering the goods needed for everyday life. Think of a truck driver as the Santa Clause of the highway and teach your children to respect them as well!

Invoice Factoring for the Holidays

Is anyone every really ready for the holidays?  Are you hungry for cash?  In the small to mid-sized trucking industry, credit is hard to come by due to the qualifying requirements of traditional banks. Owner-Operators and small trucking fleets are looking for other methods to put money in their pockets, keep their wheels turning and their gas tanks full.

Invoice Factoring is a common way to get paid quickly with less than perfect credit.  Assigning your unpaid freight bills to a reputable company enables you to get paid quickly on completion of a run.

Traditionally you should expect the following:

  •  An initial credit check to help ensure you are paid for services provided
  •  Performance of contractual obligations to your customer
  •  Provide us your paperwork for funding
  •  Payment made to you within 24 hours!
  •  We handle the rest!

With Thanksgiving around the corner and Christmas creeping up, who doesn't need to get paid now? To learn more contact us today or simply give us a call at 800.771.5633.  www.singlepointcap.com
